A Solid Track Record
Lisa has been working towards her vision of a vibrant, healthy, prosperous, and sustainable Clarenville since she became Deputy Mayor in 2005.

In 2006, she initiated an Economic Development Plan with other councilors and has been working with them on implementing the recommendations. One recommendation of the plan was to increase efforts in winter tourism. This resulted in the ongoing Winter Starts Here campaign, promoting our many winter attractions. Another recommendation in the Economic Development Plan was to increase emphasis on the arts. She co-founded Arts Under the Stars, a series of free outdoor arts performances during the summer months, sponsored by the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council and local businesses.

As Deputy Mayor, Lisa led the development of the first Strategic Plan for the town. She chaired a Strategic Planning Committee consisting of town councilors and town residents. The plan was put together with input from town residents. It provides residents, staff and councilors with a roadmap for the future. It is important, as community leaders, to keep focused on upcoming activities (such as the Hebron Project) that may impact on the town. A plan helps to maintain that focus and ensure accountability that recommendations are followed through.

During her term as Deputy Mayor, Lisa has supported improving communication with residents through newsletters, an updated community website and a Facebook page. She also maintains a blog, Clarenville - From My Perspective as a further way to communicate and thereby relate her ideas to town residents.
